BEING THE TEXT OF PRESS STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE LEADERSHIP OF NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA STUDENTS (NANS) JOINT CAMPUS COMMITTEE EKITI AXIS.

Today we find it so imperative and germane to express our disgust and distrust towards the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Kayode Soremekun.

Prof. Kayode Soremekun has shown the whole world his incompetence, act of nepotism, maladministration and indigence nature through his improper and ineptitude leadership by the illegal removal of the University Registrar, Mr Daniel Adeyemo.

For record purpose, Mr Daniel Adeyemo is the only Principal Officer in the University who is an indigene of the State.

It has come to our notice that Prof. Kayode Soremekun has deployed vicious tactics to victimize Ekiti indigenes in his administration which we consider an aberration. He concorted allegations bordering on negligence of duty to nail the Registrar, Mr. Daniel Adeyemo and appointed one Mrs. Fasakin who is from his country home asf the Acting Registrar.

It is therefore audible to the deaf and visible to the blind that the entire Management team of Federal University Oye Ekiti is clearly made-up of indigenes of Ogun State. 

To further affirm this fact, The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Prof. Saida Mabadeje hails from Lagos but married to Ogun person. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kayode Soremekun; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fasina; Director of Administration (a position that is alien to University administration in Nigeria), Mr.O. Odusanya; and the Acting Registrar Mrs. O. Fasakin  are from Ogun State. The Acting Bursar, Mrs. R. Akande is from Oyo but married to Ogun indigene. 

We also understand the fact that even, the Chief Store Officer,  a man with just HND pass without required experience and prerequisite qualifications), Mr. Elabor is a direct cousin of the Vice-Chancellor's wife.

To further highlight the inconsistency, nepotism and high level of administrative catastrophy and lacuna in FUOYE under Prof. Kayode Soremekun, majority of the above named officers have not been confirmed as staff of the University.

 Our investigation revealed that in order to cover up contracts racketeering in FUOYE, one Mr. Efuntade who hailed from Ogun State was also appointed as Head of Procurement Unit of the University to perfect the fraudulent practices of the Vice-Chancellor.  

Currently, the duo of Mr. Oyinbo Francis O. and Mr. Kehinde Akinwande who are  staff of the Bursary Department of the University are collecting #5,000 (cash) each from  innocent newly admitted students of the University, under the guise of collecting illegal medical fees. 

This is against  Federal Government policy on TSA,  and they claimed to be doing this on the instruction of the Acting Bursar of the University. This act we considered as an act of sabotage to President Buhari's anti corruption crusade.

Our demands:

1.) The immidiate reinstatement of Mr. Daniel Adeyemo, the University Registrar who is currently on compulsory leave as a result of conspiracy of these unscrupulous elements.

2.) The current composition of the Management of the Institution should be investigated and necessary corrective measures should be put in the system and justice be done to those with questionable qualifications.

3.) We call on the Federal Government to with immediate effect constitute a Visitation Panel to investigate the alleged contracts racketeering and the illegal extortion of money from Nigerian students in FUOYE under the leadership of Prof. Soremekun.   
  

              

4.) We give the Governing Council and the Federal Ministry of Education a Five (5) day ultimatum to reverse the removal of Mr. Daniel Adeyemo or without which the leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students shall relocate its Secretariat to the Federal University, Oye Ekiti.
