Notes worth more than 1.2m rupees (about N17m) have been shredded in the automated teller machine( ATM), at the State Bank of India branch in Tinsukia district and the suspected money mincer are rats.
The rats have been alleged suspects as they were found dead in the automated teller machine.
According to BBC, the strange teamwork was discovered by technicians who arrived to fix the malfunctioning machine in Assam state.
The ATM which had been reported as being down since May 20th, left the maintenance team surprised as it harboured millions of shredded notes.
However, the Police suggested the rodents may have entered the machine through a hole for wiring.
