ALARMING: AS FUEL SCARCITY HEIGHTENS!

It is quite unimaginable how a country that was inclusive in the ranks of oil producers as far back as 1958, periodically surfers from its shortage over the years.

 Nigeria was still able to harvest instant riches from its oil production even after the Biafra war at the end of 1970, in fact, till 2004, the oil production level of Nigeria recorded not less than 2.5million barrels per day.

Significantly, some people believe the present problem of paucity in petroleum is as a result of the unachievable strategy seven years ago, In 2010, which was aimed at increasing oil production to almost double of its initial obtained barrels per day.

This strategy however was said to have been nipped into the bud through greed and lack of vision. Consequentially, Nigeria today could have successfully created an uncompromising future for her oil production and distribution. NNPC

 Specifically, for almost a month now, some major cities in the country (Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, among others) had been wallowing in the dearth of fuel, of a truth, it saddens the heart of citizens to question whether or not they are being led really, as said by one of our respondents when interviewed;
A middle aged father of three and trader who added rhetorically, by saying;
Which is of no concern? The deliberate hoarding of petroleum? The donkey queue in few ones who care to sell? Violence and increase in crime rate? Dissatisfaction with sold out fuels to consumers? Or the rigorous stress involved in getting fuel to purchase? I am tired, I have been here since 2am, now its already 6pm, just to get fuel, I am sick and tired of all this…

Comically, yet disheartening, the very few petrol stations who were selling at the rate of 145 naira per liter , have their customers numbered like pupils awaiting a registered call by their class teachers,  many consumers been chased around as though to say they were criminals.

Transportation has become a challenge, market women aren’t happy, salons are not smiling, some major and minor business owners are not finding things easy at all, public transport workers are begging for a positive change, even some private car owners are stressed-out in the quest for fuel, the prices of almost all commodities have hiked, invariably, a hindrance to transportation is a problem to all.

APC/PDP RESPONSE
There’s no actual scarcity, Nigeria ruling party, APC had on Friday 22nd of December via the twitter media, the party accused marketers for the overall scarcity.
However, the opposition party, PDP  blamed the commander in Chief of army forces, President Mohammadu Buhari who is also the Minister of Petroleum for this shortage.
Governor Ayodele Fayose asked President Buhari to step down. He said the scarceness was a deliberate ploy by the present administration to hike prices of fuel to as much as 200 naira. (Premium Times Nigeria)
Who can feel the heart of his people, except their leaders?
Nigeria, for how long are we going to continue like this?
