PURSUING HOLINESS

It is quite easy to ask people if they are happy or satisfied with their work or enjoying life. But it may not be as easy to to ask someone, "Are you holy?"- as it may not be easy answering such question.

One Bible Dictionary defines holiness as " Separation to God and conduct fitting for those separated".

Holiness is not a human quality. It is one of the divine attributes of God which God has graciously allowed human being to share with Him.

However, there are some steps or actions we must take, among others, that will pre-dispose us to pursuing holiness.

1.
As we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we must continue to be in Christ, abide in Christ and abide in His words so that we will be a new creature at all time. 2Cor. 5:17 says that "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

2.
We must be dead to sin, alive in Christ and also walking in newness of life. Romans 6:4 states that "...............even so we also should walk in newness of life."

3.
We must make efforts to follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hen 12:14).

4. The pursuit of holiness occurs daily as we yield ourselves in obedience to the Lord instead of obedience to our own will or obedience to the will of the society or even following our old ways of self gratification.

As we genuinely and wholeheartedly fulfil the above actions, we will definitely be free from the powers and dominion of sin and then become servant of God and we will have our fruits into holiness, and the end everlasting life (Rom 6:22).

Now, the choice is yours, the choice is mine - whether to pursue this holiness and at the end see the Lord ( 12:14) or refuse to pursue holiness by enjoying the pleasure of sin - the wages of which is death (Rom 6:23).

I pray, God helping us, we will pursue holiness and make it part of our lives in Jesus Name.
