We had less resources in our Press department, so I Switched from Editorial to Press department on one of the Student Union Election in school.
We gave live updates as early as 7:00am, just as a standard media company, we took photographs and shared situation reports as soon as it came in.
But, we had about two polling units more than our resources, and the units are interval of the distance isn't some stepping on a staircase, although we did what we could in every polling unit until the election started and we aren't the electoral to count the vote and we couldn't stay inside those polling units, so we were relatively silent for a number of hours, what we just did was "VOTING IS GOING ON SMOOTHLY" and we repeated that in another thirty minuites.
As that was happening, Fatigue already had set into my body because i wasn't feeling too good that day and I was in scorching sun with a temperature just to discharge my duty.
(one kleptomaniac was busy plagirising everything, and taking credits as we updated it, Security operatives stopped me from slapping the idiot because he was proving to be the author before I brought evidences of our initial updates out.
That's not the discussion anyways), after midday, I told one of the members of my Crew to hold my hand, I couldn't stand myself, he afterwards took me to the hostel, on getting to the hostel I vomitted the FanMilk Youghourt I took earlier, and rested for a while and slept for few minuites and stood again, as I got out of the hostel, now with a facecap to protect me from the scorching sun.
I saw a frosh student who also is a younger sister, I told her to lead me to the gate, I had to recieve a package personally, I drank a satchet of water as we were going, after receiving the package.
I vomitted the water again, and rested a bit and chewed gum to stop the dizzyness and retired to the Election ground to continue what we started in the morning.
.
Then, I was on my feet again, as I approached a polling unit, a guy just accossted angrilly to goad us and said why did we stop updating that people who aren't on campus are following the Elections via our updates.
I knew it was hypocrisy because, a person that reasons logically would know we aren't the electoral to count the votes, and in general elections, Media stations would invite dignitaries to their studio to interview when voting goes on.
I knew it was a dig and he was trying to be magnanimous and sarcastic with his dig,
but I took the dig as encouragement and didn't crack under pressure.
I controlled my anger and furinusity and just told the guy we are sorry and walked away from him to sit in a cool space.
Soon, voting ended and ended and counting started, we swinged into action immidiately, and updated the scores of every polling unit as they counted it.
When the counting ended and collation started, we gave live updates of the collation still and even though through the statistics we gave many students had calculated the winner online and already started celebrations.
Everything finished, we rounded up arotnd 8:00pm and gave the final report.
And the day was a success.
Memories of the whole happening lingered my heart for a while and realised that many things really need to happen before one will acheive success, people don't want to care about the process or the progress, they just want a result, a very good result.
And detractors would surely come, one just have to make their negativity positive, take it as encouragement.
Stumbling block came, but I turned it into a staircase to our success.
I employed patience in its time and anger in its time either like when someone was pirating my hardwork.
But, I made sure "I Didn't Crack Under Pressure".
And what we do dilligently silently will bring great results.
Make sure you don't crack under pressure.
Handle it well.
I'm Emmanuel Oluwapelumi Falode, Pelfald.
