NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (NYCN) EKITI STATE CHAPTER.

NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (NYCN) EKITI STATE CHAPTER.

27th June 2018.

Press Release:

The above named organization wishes to register her displeasure with the manner at which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is slowing the pace of sharing the Permanent Voters Card (PVC).

It is also worthy of note that many of our youths who officially requested to transfer there PVCs from one Local Government to another, including those who applied or requested for another PVC due to lost or damaged of their PVCs are yet to be given their PVCs.

Furthermore, the Council noted that INEC staffs do not attend to people on time, as delay tactics is been used to discourage our youths and other citizens from collecting their PVCs, this we see as a means of disenfranchising Ekiti citizens from exercising their civil rights.

This reaction is due to our fact findings across all INEC headquarters in Ekiti State, as such we urge INEC to as a matter of urgency produce PVCs for those seeking transfer of their voter's card from one local government or polling unit to another.

The Council will not hesitate to shut down all INEC offices if this urgly development are not addressed in few days time.

Finally, we implore our youths to shun violence during and after the election, also obey all instructions of the security agencies and stay away from any unholy activities at this crucial period.

In building the youths, we Build the nation.

Signed:

Hon. Famuyibo Oluwasegun, Public Relations Officer, NYCN, Ekiti State Chapter.
