The two and half hour' vice-presidential debate which was held in Abuja on Friday featured a pentad of parties, namely; The All Progressive Congress(Yemi Osinbanjo), Alliance for New Nigeria (Khadija Abdullahi-iya), Aliied Congress Party of Nigeria (Ganiyu Galadima), The Young Progressive Congress (Umma Gets), and Peter Obi of the People's demoncratic Party.
The heat of the debate had been undoubtedly stirred by Obi and Osinbanjo, Nigerians noted.
The 57years-old quondam governor of Anambra state and present vice presidential aspirant under the People's Democratic Party, Peter Obi had notably criticized the incumbent Buhari-led administration, saying, while the government was busy fighting corruption, Nigeria stock market lost #2 trillion in one year.
A vivid example given by him was that, the present rate of unemployment and underemployment is 40%, which was just 24% in 2015. Sadly enough, this almost doubling tragic effect is observed among the common citizens-the poor citizens. He further said, the subsidy plea by the government was accepted in good fate by Nigerians few years ago, hoping things would get better, but alas! "Maybe in their dreams".
According to Obi, "we attracted $21 billion in foreign direct investment in 2015, but we only attracted $12billion last year. Our GDP was $520 billion in 2015 and per capital was $2,500, but today it is less than $1,900."
