What is your view about getting to the peak of ones career before ministry?

The world today is undoubtedly filled with fruits from various schools of thought, that is fast reaching even transcedental. While many get submerged in this seeming pool of thought, a few others manage to rise above them.

Ministry is likely to be a tasky and demanding work. Whether a shop-sized or large congregational ones. This argument has not spared the twenty-first century ministries at all.

One of such argument had been "whether it is advisable for one to get to the peak of his career before ministry or should just venture into ministerial work without an eye on the Pinnacle of his/her profession".

Clearly; Do you think it is advisable for one to get to the peak of his/her career before taking up the ministerial work?

Or Can God call a man anytime inspite of his academic achievement and such man still do well in ministry?

Dear reader; What is your opinion about this?

  1. It is clearly not advisable for one to get to the peak of his or her career before taking up the ministerial work. To everything purpose there is time. Picking up the ministerial work shouldn't be based on where we are or what we have achieved but based on which time or what stage the master is calling.

  2. My own take on this point is that there's need to be equipped on a personal base before dabbling into ministry.
The book of Acts chapter 21 through 28 makes it clear that the qualifications of Paul as a legal practitioner made it easy for him to be exempted from many trials.

He was able to publicly declare in one of His letters that he is not dependent on the church for his daily needs. He was a tentmaker.

But there is need to be under construction while in your field. Elijah was a mechanised farmer. The Apostles all had there business before being chosen. Moses was a Shepherd. David was a Shepherd.

The level of our value will determine the caliber of our target audience.

    Thank you.
