PUTTING YOURSELF ON THE WEIGHING SCALES!

SPIRITUAL PASSAGE: "24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not  by faith only. 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD also." - James 2:24, 26

Brethren, One day a man trying to lose weight stepped on the bathroom scales. His wife asked, ‘How are you doing?’ He replied, ‘Ok, just one problem; according to these scales I ought to be 20 cm taller.’ When it comes to demonstrating true discipleship, James puts us all on the scales: (1) When it comes to feeding the hungry: ‘Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say; Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well, but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is…useless.’ (James 2:15-17). Today, many so-called believers goes out to evangelize without doing the needful; imagine telling someone who doesn't have what to eat or job to accept Christ while you are in position to help him/her but you refuse to do the needful by helping such person and you expects he/she to accept your proposal?

God's people, secondly, when it comes to loving people and treating them with respect: ‘Suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewellery, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor, well, doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?’ (James 2:2-4). (3) When it comes to caring for the needy: ‘Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress…’ (James 1:27). Get your doctrine out of the deep freeze! Take your theology off the drawing board and start using it in a practical way. Come on put yourself on the weighing scales to see truly if you are practicing what the Bible says!

SOULMEAL: Amos 1:1-5:17, Luke 1:11-25, Psalms 73:1-16 , Proverbs 13:17-19.

Pray: 1. Lord I thank God for the grace to know the Truth. 2.  Lord I ask for the grace to restructure my life in the way that suits you. 3 Lord I want you to break me down and remould me for your glory in Jesus mighty name. Amen

CONFESSION: Lord Jesus, I receive grace to always hearken to your voice, devil I resist you and your voice from now on, I receive power to be spiritually sensitive to the things of God and the strength to know your will for my life in Jesus name.
